Step 1. Join the Sapphire Coast Kart Club.
Joining the club will give you access to the circuit for practice, as well as allowing you to participate in the club championship, social events, officials training, and other club activities.
Step 2. Get a Karting Australia Licence
After you become a member of the club, you can apply for a licence. The licence comes with a Karting Manual which outlines all the rules, regulations and operations of Karting Australia. An KA Licence also covers you for insurance while on the circuit.
Licence Applications are submitted through Karting Australia here
Step 3 – Getting on the track
As part of the online licence application, you will watch a Safety in Karting video that explains what you need to know before hitting the track. There is also an online questionnaire that needs to be completed.
Step 4 – Getting race ready
Once you think you’re ready for your first race, you’ll need to complete an Observed Driving Session (previously referred to as an OLT) that consists of a paper based test and practical driving assessment. This can be done on race day, but it’s best to contact the club and speak to them about this in advance.
You should also read through the document “My First Race Meeting” that has some good hints and tips for your first race day.
And to ensure you’re getting the most out of your go kart, refer to these Get Started in Karting Videos for some very useful guides.
