Junior Sprockets

The Junior Sprockets program is a participation initiative developed by Karting Australia that provides participants aged between 6 & 12 years of age with the opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement of driving an authentic racing kart in a safe and controlled environment. Under the expert tuition of Troy Hunt and the instructors from the Topgun Driver Training Academy, each participant progresses through a series of activity stations where they learn the basics of karting.

At the completion of the 2 hour intensive program, each child is presented with a gift bag containing an array of merchandise including information on how to ‘Get Started in Karting’ along with a free 12 month Karting Australia practice licence to assist them with the transition into competitive karting.

In 2018, thanks to a grant obtained from the Office of Sport, this program was offered FREE to kids who are interested in karting. This is normally valued at $195.

Who is the program designed for?

The program caters for children from 6 to 12 years of age, that have no formal prior karting experience (i.e. do not have or have not previously held a KA licence).

How long does each program go for?

Each program takes approximately 2-hours to complete. Due to the limited attention span of young children, the program has been specifically designed to ensure that participants are fully engaged for the duration of the program.

How do participants register for the event?

The Junior Sprockets program was FULLY BOOKED for 2018.  We will do our best to run this event again in 2019. To help us make this happen, please register your interest with benaylen@tpg.com.au

Alternatively, keep your eyes on this website or our Facebook page for other upcoming events you might be interested in.

Is there a cost for participants to register?

In 2018, thanks to a grant obtained from the Office of Sport, this program was offered FREE to kids who are interested in karting. This is normally valued at $195.

Do participants need to have their own kart and equipment?

No, all karts and associated equipment will be provided by Karting Australia at no additional charge, although participants are more than welcome to use their own safety equipment should they choose to.

How many children can participate in an event?

To maximise the experience for each participant, group sizes are generally limited to a maximum of ten (10) children per group. As a traditional event format consists of three (3) groups across the course of a day, the program is able to accommodate up to thirty (30) children per day.
